Anthropic’s reported $10 billion agreement with AI cloud startup Volta adds another major compute partnership as the Claude maker expands capacity.

Anthropic has reportedly signed a $10 billion cloud compute deal with AI cloud startup Volta. Bloomberg originally reported that Volta, founded earlier this year, will provide cloud compute to the Claude maker over a six-year period.
The agreement fits into what TechCrunch describes as Anthropic’s recent cloud partnership spree as the company expands compute capacity.
Volta is working with Bitdeer, a crypto-mining company, to help develop the data center that would provide the compute capacity. The facility is set to be located in Norway and deliver 133 megawatts of capacity.
TechCrunch reports that the facility will be fueled by Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems, described as the chipmaker’s state-of-the-art AI chip architecture.
Volta is part of Nvidia’s Cloud Partner program, a consortium of AI cloud providers that use Nvidia GPUs in their data centers. That connection places the reported Anthropic deal within the broader market push to secure specialized AI infrastructure.
For AI labs, access to compute is increasingly tied to model development, product capacity, and competitive positioning.
TechCrunch reports that Anthropic has been aggressively expanding compute capacity over the last several months as it competes with rivals. The company also recently announced compute deals with SpaceX and Amazon.
Volta had previously spoken about a deal with an AI lab but had not named the company, according to the report. TechCrunch said it reached out to Anthropic for more information.
