What Blueprints AI Says It Built

Blueprints AI says its software can produce code-compliant, permit-ready architectural construction blueprints in minutes from inputs such as a photo, PDF, sketch, or project description. The Santa Monica startup was founded by Al Dram and co-founder Coco Cao after Dram revisited an old architecture-software idea in the wake of generative AI’s rise. The company was selected for TechCrunch’s 2026 Startup Battlefield 200 and is tied to TechCrunch Disrupt, taking place October 13 to 15 in San Francisco.

Why the Workflow Matters for Architects

The company’s pitch centers on reducing repetitive drafting work so architects can spend more time on design. Dram told TechCrunch that architects spend about 80% of their time on drafting and 20% on design, and said he wants to flip that ratio. The practical takeaway: Blueprints AI is positioning itself as a productivity tool for firms that already manage design, code checks, and permit documentation.

What Version 2 Adds

Blueprints AI’s first-generation product creates architectural construction documents and is priced between $3,200 and $8,500 per month, depending on the plan, with custom enterprise pricing also available. The company says its second-generation software can create blueprints across architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior design, while allowing users to make project changes that update the whole set and are checked against local building codes. Early customers are already using the second version, and Dram said it will become publicly available this week.

The Human Review Remains Central

The co-founders told TechCrunch the technology does not replace licensed architects. Licensed professionals still review the documents and affix their seal before submitting them for permits. That distinction is important for buyers: Blueprints AI is framed as a drafting and coordination accelerator, not a substitute for professional judgment or the formal permitting process.

Who the Startup Is Targeting Next

Blueprints AI is targeting professional architecture, engineering, and design firms, as well as developers and real estate owners. Its current model is subscription-based, though the startup may add a one-time flat-fee option for single-project users. The company is also working on a third software version that would add structural analysis and electrical panel design.
