Goldman Sachs elevated 109 executives to partner, a 15% increase from its 2024 cohort, with engineers and Asset and Wealth Management standing out in the new class.
Goldman Sachs promoted 109 executives to partner, one of Wall Street’s most coveted titles. The class is 15% larger than the 2024 cohort, when Goldman promoted 95 executives, and is the firm’s largest class since 2010. The new roles take effect in January, when Goldman will have more than 500 partners overall.
The partner class highlights where Goldman’s leadership sees the firm heading. Engineers had a record showing, with 13 promoted across divisions, reflecting rising demand for technical talent across Wall Street. The article also notes that technological savvy and interest, including in AI, played a role in promotions across roles.
Asset and Wealth Management accounted for 30% of the partner class, with 33 partners in that division. Goldman said 85% of partners are in revenue-producing roles, while the new partners’ average tenure at the firm is 17 years. The class spans a record 21 offices, and around 43% are based outside the Americas.
At Goldman, partner is a major career milestone tied to financial rewards, influence over the bank’s direction, and prestige. The process requires years of performance and an intense internal review known as “cross-ruffing.” Goldman did not share how many women or people of color were promoted this cycle, but the firm will have more than 100 female partners for the first time as of January 1.
