Google says the Gemini app has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users, with strong voice usage, massive daily image generation, and growing adoption on iOS.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the Gemini app has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users, calling it one of Google’s fastest-growing products. He also said Gemini is the 14th Google product to reach the 1 billion-user mark. The figure refers specifically to the Gemini app, not users coming through other Google AI integrations.
Google shared usage details that show Gemini is not just being opened, but actively used in multimodal ways. According to Google, 63% of Gemini users talk directly to the assistant through the voice feature. The company also says Gemini now generates more than 150 million images every day.
Gemini has been integrated across Google products including Search, Workspace, Android, and the standalone app. Google’s AI Mode in Search has more than 1 billion monthly active users globally, but that is separate from the Gemini app milestone. Google also says Gemini now has more than 100 million active users on iOS.
The milestone follows Google’s Q2 2026 earnings call, where the company said Gemini had more than 950 million monthly users and that daily active users had tripled over the past year. TechCrunch notes that Gemini’s growth keeps it in pace with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which hit 1 billion monthly active users in June. The announcement also comes ahead of the Made by Google event, where more Gemini-powered Pixel features are expected.
