AI fueled record billion-dollar rounds as global venture funding hit $159B in Q3 2026.
Kuku Technologies posted a sharp FY26 revenue jump and turned profitable before tax, driven by subscription income, heavy marketing spend and a growing microdrama push ahead of its proposed IPO.

Kuku Technologies’ operating revenue rose over sixfold to Rs 1,484.2 crore in FY26 from Rs 241.5 crore in FY25, according to financial statements filed with the Registrar of Companies. The IPO-bound company reported Rs 88.6 crore in profit before tax for the year. Net profit stood at Rs 182.7 crore, compared with a loss of Rs 152.6 crore in FY25, aided by a deferred tax benefit of Rs 98.1 crore.

Subscription revenue contributed Rs 1,475.4 crore, accounting for over 99% of operating revenue in FY26. Kuku also earned Rs 6.86 crore from its pay-per-piece coin model and Rs 1.9 crore from advertising income. Its total income reached Rs 1,510.4 crore after adding Rs 26.2 crore from non-operating sources such as interest on bank deposits.

Marketing and advertising was Kuku’s largest expense at Rs 1,105 crore in FY26, nearly four times the Rs 284.8 crore spent in FY25. Total expenditure rose 3.5X to Rs 1,421.7 crore from Rs 411 crore. Employee benefit expenses increased 24% to Rs 74.1 crore, IT expenses more than doubled to Rs 56.7 crore, operational costs rose to Rs 96.25 crore, and payment gateway charges reached Rs 43.2 crore.
Kuku’s growth came as it scaled Kuku TV, its microdrama platform launched in 2024, with more than 150 microdramas produced each month. Ahead of its proposed Rs 3,500 crore IPO, the company is building a 1,000-member AI-led content production unit and plans to use AI across writing, production, post-production, dubbing and localisation. The next test is whether Kuku can sustain microdrama demand, retain subscribers and scale output without diluting content quality.
