GPT-6 Astra arrives for top ChatGPT tiers with tighter message limits

OpenAI has made GPT-6 Astra available to ChatGPT users on Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium plans through ChatGPT Work and Codex. The model is also available through the OpenAI API, Microsoft Azure, and AWS Bedrock. Plus and Business users are expected to get access in the coming days, while Free and Go users do not get access to GPT-6 Astra or GPT-5.6 Sol.

The standard GPT-6 Astra model offers about half as many messages per five-hour window as GPT-5.6 Sol across plans. Plus users are estimated to receive 5 to 45 Astra messages per five hours, compared with 10 to 100 for Sol. On the Pro 20x plan, Astra is listed at 100 to 900 messages, versus 200 to 2,000 for Sol.

Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers also get GPT-6 Astra Pro, described as the more capable version of the model. Astra Pro usage counts against existing subscription quotas. The $200 Pro plan includes 200 GPT-6 Pro messages per week, the $100 Pro plan gets 50 per week, Business Premium gets 50 per week, and Business Standard is limited to 15 messages per month.

OpenAI says actual usage depends on model choice, context length, reasoning, tool use, and caching. That means the published ranges should be treated as practical guidance rather than a fixed experience for every session. Users who need frequent interactions may want to compare Astra’s lower allowance with Sol, Terra, Luna, and GPT-5.5 limits before choosing a model for daily work.
