Roblox announced new AI-powered creation tools, expanded NPC capabilities, web and cross-platform availability, and creator financial products at its annual Roblox Developer Conference.

Roblox is rolling out its generative AI game creation feature, Build, more broadly after first announcing it in July. The natural-language tool, initially available only in New Zealand, is expanding to Serbia and Singapore and adding desktop access, a new asset library, and iterative control. Later this year, Roblox says Build will add prompt-based scene generation, with the feature also extending to Roblox Studio.
Roblox said creators will soon be able to make their games available as separate apps on mobile, PC, and consoles, with Roblox acting as the game engine behind them. By year-end, players will also be able to join a game in-browser through a link. The key shift: Roblox is not just trying to bring people into Roblox, but to expand where Roblox-built experiences can be played.
Roblox is adding new NPC capabilities, including NPCs that can playtest a game later this year. Creators will also be able to add an offline mode so people can continue playing when they are in an area with a weak network connection. Players are getting a Friends chat tab that moves across games with them, plus voice typing support, while an improved discovery algorithm will suggest shorter-format games to younger users and longer-playtime games to older users.

Roblox said game makers have earned more than $5 billion on the platform since 2013, with earnings for the last 12 months reaching $1.7 billion. The company is launching Roblox Wallet so creators can get paid in real money by the end of each business day and transfer money to other bank accounts. Roblox is partnering with Airwallex to provide wallet services to U.S. users aged 18 and older, with plans for future global expansion, and teased a Roblox Card launching next year.
The announcements point to a broader Roblox strategy: make creation easier, give developers more distribution options, and keep players engaged across more contexts. Roblox also highlighted engagement scale, with founder and CEO David Baszucki saying players spent over 29 billion hours cumulatively across 180 countries in the last quarter. For creators, the practical takeaway is clear: Roblox is pairing AI-assisted building with more ways to publish, monetize, and manage earnings.
