Superhuman is acquiring Y Combinator-backed AI notetaker Fathom, bringing meeting data into its productivity platform as companies push toward more proactive, agentic workflows.

Superhuman is acquiring Y Combinator-backed Fathom, an AI meeting notetaker founded in 2020. TechCrunch reports that Superhuman had tested a notetaker internally with select users earlier this year, then chose to buy a finished product for integration into its productivity suite. CEO Shishir Mehrotra said the process showed how difficult it is to create a strong notetaking product.
AI productivity platforms are moving beyond prompt-based workflows toward tools that can proactively begin tasks. Meetings contain the context, topics, and action items needed for that shift, making notetakers strategically important. Superhuman can use meeting data to surface context in real time and connect it with email, docs, calendar, database tools, and its AI agent builder platform.
Fathom says it has more than 400,000 monthly active users and that more than 1 million people have recorded meetings with the product. The company has raised over $30 million and was valued at $94 million in 2024, according to PitchBook data cited by TechCrunch. Its investors include Zoom Apps Fund, Telescope Partners, BoxOne Ventures, and Maven Ventures.
The meeting notetaker market is crowded, with startups including Granola, Read AI, and Wispr pushing the category forward. TechCrunch notes that venture-backed notetakers are under pressure to do more than simply capture notes, even when they have meaningful users or revenue. Fathom CEO Richard White framed Superhuman’s reach as a distribution opportunity, saying the platform’s scale could speed up building a product used broadly.
