Crunchbase News’ weekly funding roundup shows AI again dominated the biggest U.S. startup financings, with five of the top 10 announced rounds and two billion-dollar deals leading the list.

AI once again dominated the week’s largest announced U.S. funding rounds, taking five of the top 10 spots. The biggest deals were a tie: Keyfactor raised a $1 billion private equity round in cybersecurity, while SambaNova announced a $1 billion Series F for AI infrastructure at an $11 billion post-money valuation. The pairing underscores how investor appetite remains strongest where enterprise security, machine identity and AI compute infrastructure meet.
Beyond the two $1 billion rounds, the list included Oratomic’s $300 million Series A for quantum computing and Quaise Energy’s $134 million Series B for deep geothermal energy. Prime Intellect raised $130 million for an open AI training and deployment platform, while Gauntlet and EDX Markets added large crypto infrastructure deals. Other notable sectors represented included regulatory compliance AI, aerospace and defense, institutional fintech infrastructure, and precision oncology.
The roundup also noted large non-U.S. financings, including Munich-based Proxima Fusion’s €411 million Series B to develop a commercial fusion energy power plant. Paris-based Skello raised a €200 million private-equity round for HR software covering payroll, scheduling, compliance and employee communications. These deals show that large private-market checks extended beyond the U.S. list, especially in energy and workplace technology.
Crunchbase News tracked the largest announced rounds in the Crunchbase database raised by U.S.-based companies for the period of July 4-10. The article notes that most announced rounds are represented in the database, but some may appear later because of reporting time lags. For readers, the clearest takeaway is that AI remains the strongest magnet for large venture checks, while adjacent infrastructure categories are also drawing substantial capital.
