What’s new in Music v2.5

ElevenLabs has released Music v2.5 for ElevenMusic, its AI music generator. The company says generated songs now sound fuller and more natural, and the model is available through both the app and ElevenLabs’ API. Music v2 remains accessible, giving users a continuity option while testing the new version.

Performance claims and genre strengths

In a blind test with 47,885 comparison pairs, listeners preferred Music v2.5 over the previous version most of the time. The reported gains were especially notable for R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Rock, and orchestral music. For creators, the practical takeaway is to test the model against existing workflows genre by genre rather than assume uniform improvements.

Free and Pro tier details

The free tier includes five lossless downloads per day, while the Pro tier includes 400 per month. Users retain the rights to their tracks, according to the article. Commercial use is allowed depending on industry and purpose, but free-tier use requires attribution.

Rights, restrictions, and training-data positioning

Downloads of tracks based on other artists’ songs are blocked, and imitating existing musicians is not allowed. ElevenLabs says Music v2.5 was trained on licensed stems and music, though it has not detailed the data. The company also says its recent Universal Music Group licensing deal applies to future, separate products, not Music v2.5.
