The trip’s only reported problem came at a Circuit Électrique station outside Montreal, where the card reader did not work. The session continued after downloading the network’s app and loading it with 20 Canadian dollars. That stands in sharp contrast to a 2023 trip described in the article, when broken chargers, inaccurate app status, and repeated customer service calls made a shorter EV journey far more frustrating.

TechCrunch reports that the U.S. had about 32,000 DC fast chargers in July 2023, according to the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, and says the current total is now more than double that level. Wider access to much of Tesla’s network, plus continued expansion by Tesla and other companies, has changed the charging landscape for many drivers.
