Ola Electric’s revenue from operations declined 45% year-on-year to Rs 455 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs 828 crore in Q1 FY26, according to consolidated financial statements filed with the National Stock Exchange. Total income stood at Rs 484 crore, including Rs 29 crore in other income, down from Rs 896 crore in the same quarter last year.

The sequential picture was stronger: operating revenue rose 71.7% from Rs 265 crore in the preceding quarter. The key takeaway is mixed—annual pressure remained significant, but quarter-on-quarter revenue recovery showed improvement from the prior period.

Automotive Business Drove Nearly All Segment Revenue

The automotive business generated Rs 455 crore, contributing 98.91% of segment revenue. The cell business contributed Rs 5 crore, taking combined segment revenue to Rs 460 crore during the quarter before inter-segment eliminations.

Ola Electric recorded 43,908 EV registrations in Q1 FY27, a 25% year-on-year decline. For readers tracking the EV maker, registrations remain an important demand signal alongside revenue and segment mix.

Expenses Fell Faster, Helping Losses Narrow

Ola Electric reduced total expenses by 41.8% year-on-year to Rs 620 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 1,065 crore in Q1 FY26. Procurement, or cost of materials, stood at Rs 317 crore, while employee benefit expenses declined 46.1% to Rs 48 crore.

Despite the steep revenue decline, net loss narrowed to Rs 336 crore from Rs 426 crore a year earlier, aided by lower manufacturing spending. Sequentially, losses declined 32.8% from Rs 500 crore in the preceding quarter.

Funding and Market Snapshot

In June 2026, Ola Electric raised Rs 780 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement. The issue was oversubscribed by 56% against its initial fundraising target of Rs 500 crore.

At the close of trading on Friday, Ola Electric’s shares settled at Rs 41.07 apiece, giving the company a market capitalization of Rs 19,185 crore. The immediate investor takeaway is that cost reduction improved the loss profile, while year-on-year revenue and registration declines remain central metrics to watch.
