How to create a data room

Before you begin#

• Team or Data Rooms plan, data rooms aren't on Free or Pro. See Pricing.
• The documents you want in the room already uploaded (see Uploading a document). You can add them later, but having them ready makes setup feel instant.
• Your logo uploaded under Branding (recommended, the room inherits it automatically).

Steps to create a Data Room#

1. From the dashboard, click Get Started or open the Data Rooms tab in the left sidebar.
2. Click + New Data Room.
3. Give it a clear, recipient-facing name (e.g. "Plox, Series A, ACME Capital").
4. Plox creates a blank room with a default landing page and an empty document list.

Add documents#

Inside the room:

1. Click + Add Document to upload a new file, or Pick from Library to attach a file you already uploaded under Documents.
2. Reorder by drag-and-drop, the top file is the one viewers see first.
3. Group related files by adding folders for things like Financials, Legal, Product, Team.

Customize the cover page#

The cover is the first thing investors or buyers see. Edit:

• Title and tagline, keep it short; this is your "elevator pitch" line.
• Hero image or video, Plox AI can auto-generate this from your pitch deck (see Plox AI).
• Description, 2, 3 sentences on what's inside and why it matters.
• CTA, link to your calendar or a contact email so warm viewers can reach you immediately.

Set access controls#

Click the three dots (•••) on the room → Data Room Settings (same as Access Controls). The room-level controls apply to every document inside, so set them once instead of per-file:

• Email + OTP for verified viewer identity.
• Allowlist for closed deals.
• Watermark + Disable Download for high-stakes financials.

Share the room#

Click Copy Link on the room. The URL takes viewers to your branded landing page, where they navigate documents in the order you arranged.
